Google, one of the most influential search engines in the world, added a new neat feature for its users. The new feature buffs the search engine’s current job search property. Today, work-from-home and home based jobs are easier to spot with their new update.
The tech giant mentioned how much people are using the search engine feature to look for jobs online. Their new goal is to give quality remote and home based jobs. They are looking to cut low-quality sites that offer misleading job offers.

Google to Improve Job Seekers’ User Experience
According to Google, the new feature improves the experience for job seekers in the US. The update includes a new filter that will help you set your location to “work from home”. It will then display results that will match the term. Listings will include terms such as remote, work from home, and telecommuting opportunities.
It doesn’t stop there, employers and company owners can enjoy this new fantastic update. Google also announced that they are looking to add another schema mark up for their new filter.
New Markup for Work from Home Roles
Google Search’s Senior Product Manager Nick Zakrasek said that “we’re using new Schema.org markup.” he mentioned that the markup is “ to indicate work-from-home roles and any related geographic restrictions. Regardless of the specific words employers use to describe remote jobs, those marked up listings will be discoverable through this new feature.”
Google also mentioned that they were working with a handful of job listing websites. They look to push and increase the number of search results that are tagged as remote and home based jobs.
Websites such as Working Nomads, ZipRecruiter, and Work Remotely have been working with Google with this filter. It is reported that these 3 websites are already rocking this new feature. More remote jobs are going to be available in the coming days! We are still waiting for other companies and websites to catch along.
If you are a company owner with a site, and you don’t want all the fuss of the mark-up. I suggest jumping on those websites! List your job openings and these 3. It will radically help your job posting be visible in the new filter.
Looking at how this new update came to be, the company also introduced two similar markups. These are the remote job markup and the telecommuting markup months prior today.
Zakrasek noted that ”We hope these tools are useful in finding your next work from home opportunity or finding the right candidates, regardless of where they call home”
As of writing, the new filter only works in the United States. More related searches will pop up in the SERP as soon as the rest of the world has this update.
